Often times we like to hide edge lines in a drawing to clean up views, make areas of interest more outstanding or just make the drawing more understandable. When you right click on a line, you should receive a "Hide Edge" option.
What can I do if the "Hide Edge" option doesn't show up?
This is often cause by one of two things.... or both combined. If you want to hide an edge, you need to:
1. Click the view itself and check the "Display Style" setting. If it is set to "Draft Quality", the "Hide Edge" option will not display. Make sure to set this to "High Quality."
2. Set "Tools\Options\System\Drawings\Display Style\Display Quality for New Views," to "High Quality." This will prevent step 1 from being needed in newly created views.

This does not work in 2009 when making a drawing. I tried making a line & construction line & I still can't hide it.
The mentioned "HIDE EDGE" only applies to the Model edges that were created when you inserted a drawing view (actual model geometry).
If you physically SKETCH while in the drawing, these sketches are not controlled by this command. They are not drawing view related.
Important: When you click the Drawing View, make sure you are looking at the "Display Style" sections High\Draft Quality and NOT the "Cosmetic Thread Display" High\Draft Quality. This is an easy oversite to make.
If you are physically sketching in the drawing, you will need to create a layer, maybe "Hidden", that has its visibility turned off. You can then select drawn lines\centerlines etc and switch the layer to the "Hidden" layer. This way they will not be displayed.
