"An important advantage of FDM is that it provides a stronger grade of ABS which means we no longer have to worry about the prototypes breaking." - Matt Bauer, President of Pedal Brain.
Pedal Brain produces an iPhone accessory that logs a wide range of data for competitive cyclists and also uploads it onto the web where it can be viewed by coaches and teammates. A critical part of Pedal Brain is the plastic bracket that mounts the iPhone so it can be easily viewed by the rider. In the past, Pedal Brain sent their bracket designs to a company that built prototypes using stereolithography (SLA). Now with their own Dimension 3D Printer in-house, they get more prototypes faster. "FDM gives us the chance to try out many more different ideas and experiments with the result that we have been able to steadily improve the performance of our brackets."
